Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): 4th Period Apprentice. 1st Period Apprentice. 2nd Period Apprentice. 3rd Period Apprentice. Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certificate. Tire, wheel and rim mechanic. Experience: Experience an asset. Own Tools/Equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence. Drive manual transmission vehicle. Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Work Location Information: In shop. Automotive Service Technician Specific Skills: Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor.
